Who we are
Myrmekes Ltd ("Myrmekes", "we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Registered in England & Wales, Company No. 15879916, registered office 136a Town Street, Pinxton, Nottinghamshire NG16 6JP. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@myrmekes.co.uk.
What we collect
When you contact us by email or through our enquiry form, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message — typically your company, telephone number, details of your IT estate, the support you need, and your preferred time for a call. The form sends the information to our Myrmekes mailbox; it does not add it to a marketing database.
The website uses a short-lived, privacy-preserving rate-limit record derived from the submitting network address to reduce automated abuse. It does not use this record to identify visitors or for marketing.
We measure how the website is used so we can tell which pages and which referring sites lead to enquiries. For each page view we record the page address, the host name of the site that referred you (for example google.com, never the full address or any search terms), any campaign tag in the link you followed, a coarse indication of your screen width, and a short code derived from your network address and browser using a secret value that we replace every day. Because we destroy the previous day's secret value rather than keeping it, the code cannot be traced back to you afterwards, by us or by anyone else. We do not record your name, email address, or anything you type.
How we use it
We use your details to respond to your enquiry, scope the work you've asked about, and deliver services you engage us for. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: you contacted us about IT support, and responding is what you'd expect us to do. We won't add you to marketing lists without asking first.
Our lawful basis for this first-party measurement is legitimate interest: knowing which pages and channels produce enquiries is how we decide what to publish and where to spend our effort. This measurement does not build personal profiles or make automated decisions about you. Optional Apollo company visitor tracking is separate and is described below.
Who we share it with
Fasthosts hosts the website and processes form submissions and email on our behalf. Where fulfilling your enquiry requires it, we may also share relevant details with our delivery partners — Cantel, whose engineers deliver Myrmekes support, and CloudCoCo, where your requirement involves hardware, software or services sourced through that partnership. The first-party measurement records themselves, including the daily code described above, are held only on our own hosting and are never sent to anyone else. Anonymous totals, which contain no code derived from any visitor, are compiled into a private site report using GitHub, which acts for us in the same way Fasthosts does. That report is not public. If you choose to enable optional company visitor tracking, visit data is also sent to Apollo as described below. We never sell personal data.
How long we keep it
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any engagement that follows, then reviewed and deleted when no longer required.
Measurement records are deleted automatically after fourteen days. Before deletion they are reduced to anonymous totals — counts of page views, referring sites and enquiries — which contain no code derived from any visitor and which we keep so we can see long-term trends.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, or to object to processing. Email info@myrmekes.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Optional company visitor tracking
With your consent, we use Apollo to identify companies visiting our website and understand which service pages interest them. Apollo receives your network address, browser and device information, page addresses, referring information and campaign tags. Its script uses cookies or similar browser storage, including an anonymous identifier, to associate visits. This is separate from our first-party measurement. We use company-level identification; Apollo person-level identification is not enabled.
Apollo does not load until you select Accept company tracking. You can decline without losing access to any website feature. Select Cookie settings in the footer at any time to change your choice. Declining after accepting clears the Apollo browser-storage entries used by this integration and reloads the page to stop further collection; it does not erase data already received by Apollo. Contact us to request deletion of data we hold. Apollo's own processing, storage and international-transfer information is described in its privacy policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our enquiry form and first-party measurement do not set cookies or device identifiers. We store your optional-tracking choice in local storage for up to 180 days so that we can honour it. If you accept company tracking, Apollo can also use browser storage as described above. Clearing your browser storage resets your choice.
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, or Global Privacy Control, we do not measure your visit at all.
